How do I care for my hand lettered pieces?

Apparel + pillows: Machine wash cold, inside out, gentle cycle with mild detergent and like colors. Use non-chlorine bleach, only when necessary. Do not use fabric softeners. Tumble dry low or hang-dry for longest life. Low iron inside-out if necessary. Do not iron directly on the design. Do not dry clean.
Mugs: Our mugs are professionally printed using high quality inks. While they're totally safe + made to withstand the dishwasher, we recommend delicate hand washing for the longest lifespan of your hand lettered goods.

Apparel Notice

You may notice an off-white residue and vinegar smell on your apparel. Don't worry! It's from a fixation agent applied during printing and it's not permanent. This is used for all direct-to-garment prints across the industry. It's needed so ink bonds with the fabric. Without it, ink would flake off the garment. You can think of it sort of like applying a primer before painting a wall.

The fixation agent can sometimes leave a faint square imprint around the print or other small white marks on the garment. Your apparel might also have a vinegar smell.

The solution is simply to wash the garment! Neither the residue nor the smell is permanent and both should go away after one wash.

Where can I shop your items?

All of our hand lettered goods are sold exclusively in our online shop. We don't have a brick and mortar storefront, but we do set up at local craft shows + vendor events throughout the year. Check out our Events page and social media (@homebrewedandco) to see where we'll be next.

Do you take custom order requests?

Due to our increasingly busy schedules, we are not accepting any custom orders at this time.

When can I expect to receive my item?

Each order is prepared for shipment in the order it is received. Turn around time is currently 2-7 business days. Please anticipate longer than usual production times in the holiday season. This is the time from when you place your order to when it is shipped.
You may choose the shipping speed when checking out which will determine how fast your order will get to you once it leaves our warehouse. All shipments have a tracking number, so you can stay up to date on delivery status.

I saw something of yours (on Pinterest, Etsy, Instagram...) and am wondering if you can make it again or in a different color?

What we create is in small batches or one-of-a-kind pieces. This makes our products unique. However, if you do see something of ours elsewhere that you love and is not listed in the Shop, please contact us to see if we can accommodate your request. No promises, but we'll try our best!

Where are your items made?

All of our items are hand lettered and designed by Jen in our West Virginia home. We have established partnerships with other small businesses + distributors in the US to have items professionally printed to better withstand love and use. We aim to carry US made whenever possible.

What if I don't see the size I need?

If the size you need is unavailable, please shoot us a message on our Contact page, and we may be able to assist in accommodating you.

Can you include a gift note for me?

Unfortunately, we can no longer offer hand lettered notes in gift packages since our items now ship from our warehouse.

Do you sell wholesale?

Thank you for your interest in carrying our products! However, we do not offer our products for wholesale at this time.

Workshops

What's the difference between hand lettering and calligraphy?

It's like champagne -- true champagne comes from the specific Champagne region of France. Technically, true calligraphy comes from a specific type of pointed pen. Everything else is "faux calligraphy."
Hand lettering is a method of achieving a similar look but with pencils, markers, or chalk. It is an easy style of writing that mimics the look of calligraphy and still adds whimsical beauty.

What's the difference between the beginner and intermediate modern calligraphy workshops?

The beginner workshop is geared toward those who are interested in modern calligraphy but are new to the art. I focus much of the class on proper technique (how to dip using ink, how to hold your pen the proper way, how to apply pressure to create pretty lines, etc.) and the lowercase alphabet to get you started.
The intermediate workshop is for those who have taken our beginner class (or a beginner class offered by another calligrapher) before. This is a requirement as it's expected you have a working knowledge of the fundamentals to build on and take your art to the next level.

What do I need to bring to a workshop?

All supplies you will need to create fun, hand lettering or beautiful pointed pen calligraphy will be provided.

I purchased a ticket, but now I can't make it. What do I do?

Tickets are non-refundable unless we are able to fill your seat. When you purchase your ticket, we purchase supplies + prepare everything you need to attend. If you can no longer make it, you may sell or gift your ticket to someone else. If you cannot find anyone, please notify us at least 1 week prior to the event date, and we may be able to refund your ticket(s) if we are able to find replacements off of our waitlist. In any instance, it is best to contact us as soon as possible.

Will you travel to teach a workshop?

Of course! I love to travel, and share my passion with others. An adequate amount of time and a minimum number of guests is required, so please Contact Us to discuss further.
